Renee Kleck *
PTI Project Director, Parent & ASPIRE Outreach Coordinator

Renee first called on PEAK in 1999 when her son was two years old and she was researching the possibilities for preschool. Since then, Renee has called on PEAK’s Parent Advisors (usually in a panic) many times and has attended the PEAK Conference on Inclusive Education five times! When Renee’s son was little, conventional or traditional school settings were not a good match for him. Through PEAK, Renee learned that with the proper supports in place, her son could access those settings and thrive. Working with PEAK as a parent opened Renee’s mind to the possibilities that existed for her son and PEAK’s conference always energizes and revitalizes her! Parenting has been a tough journey for Renee and PEAK has always offered her nonjudgmental understanding and community. One of Renee’s favorite quotes is from Wilson Buswell: “You have to participate in everything, or you risk not participating in anything.” Renee collects vintage globes and loves to play pub trivia! She is grateful for finding mindfulness and learning to practice and teach. Part of mindfulness is accepting the present moment, just as it is, which has proven to be a very valuable skill to have as a parent of a child who has special needs.
